MACHxLE 15'

MACHxLE’s spring collection was inspired by my time abroad in Seoul, South Korea.  Inspired by the youth culture, the hustle and bustle of the city and the korean flower.  After attending Seoul Fashion Week S/S 15’, I wanted to start a collection that translated my experiences to the line.
Line Created by: Kathy Le & Sarah Mach

The skirt was designed on Optitex in order to see how the program works virtually versus made by traditional pattern making and draping methods.
I developed the pattern using a traditional sloper then scanned it onto the program.  From there I developed the pattern.

Fit Problems

  • Difference between short and long side were harder to see.
  • Skewed pleat.
  • Skirt on the side with the pleat was too long.
  • Needed to shorted the shorter side.
  • Need to fix CF where short side of skirt and long side of skirt joins on front & back.

Conclusion

After using Optiex in order to create the pattern, I changed the pattern using traditional pattern making and draping skills in order to change the placement of the pleats. I did change the pleat and the lengths of the skirt on Optitex for grading and for marker reports.
